The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has engaged environmental practitioners/assessors from across the country through their umbrella organization, Uganda Association of Impact Assessors (UAIA). 

The engagement with the practitioners/assessors took place at NEMA House with the aim to strengthen and streamline collaboration, communication, and more effective coordination across environmental reviews, law enforcement, and improve Environmental Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) turn around time.

After the introduction of online processing of Environmental Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) through ELMIS, over 13,600 ESIA certificates have been processed by NEMA between 2018 and 2025, improving the turn around time by more than quadruple the original numbers.
