Capacity Building and Regional Cooperation for Detection, Prevention and Management of Transboundary Zoonotic Diseases at the Human- Wildlife-Livestock Interface across Uganda, Kenya and South Sudan

The project was supported by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity  through  Bio-Bridge  Initiative  (BBI).  The  project  was  jointly implemented by Kenya, South Sudan, Uganda and Conservation Through Public Health (CTPH). The goal of the project was to foster long-term cooperation between Uganda, Kenya and South Sudan in the detection, prevention, and management of transboundary zoonotic diseases at the human-wildlife- livestock interface. This goal was realised, in part, through catalytic funding support provided to Government of Uganda through NEMA from the Secretariat to the Convention on Biological Diversity’s Bio-Bridge Initiative (BBI) and through project activities. Other Biodiversity projects include:

  • Early Action Project on alignment of NBSAP to the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the Minamata project
  • Biodiversity Finance Initiative II (BIOFIN II) that includes PES (Payment for Ecosystem Services)
  • Biodiversity Offsets)
