Application for licence in respect to treatment and disposal of waste.
To apply for a waste treatment and disposal licence please refer to the National Environment (Waste Management) Regulations S.I No. 49 of 2020 for a comprehensive list of requirements for a specific applicable licence.
a). contain general information regarding—
i). the legal status of the applicant;
ii). a description of the technical competence and experience of the applicant including the personnel;
ii). financial capacity of the applicant;
b). contain, in respect to treatment and disposal—
i). proposed location of the treatment or disposal site;
ii). approval of physical planning by the relevant lead agency;
iii). specifications regarding the layout, design and construction of the site;
iv). type and quantity of waste to be treated or disposed of;
v). type of treatment or disposal technique to be used;
vi). estimated life-span of the site;
vii). measures for the containment and treatment of leakage and leachate;
viii). preliminary plan for decommissioning; and
c). contain, where applicable, consent from the local government where the waste management facility is to be located.
Submit the application to Authority through ELMIS. The Authority will verify that the applicant meets any other relevant requirements of the Act, these Regulations, environmental standards and any other applicable laws;
The Authority may, after being satisfied that the applicant meets the requirements of the Act and Regulations and grant a license to manage waste and impose conditions, including requirements.
