United Nations Restoration Training Programme for Local Government Officers

UNU-LRT TRAINING PROGRAMME The United Nations Land Restoration Training Programme (UNU-LRT), the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and Makerere University, are organizing a training targeting local government officers working in the environment and natural resources (ENR) and allied departments. This is a domestic version of UNU-LRT’s six months international training programme held every year in Iceland, and is intended to build the capacity of officers in the areas of sustainable land use, land restoration and its interlinkages with climate change in Uganda. The training is fully funded by UNU-LRT, and will take place in Kasese Town, from 25th September to 3rd October, 2017. The first intake will consider officers working in the districts that make up Mbarara, Kachwekano and Rwebitaba Zonal Agricultural Research Development Institutes (ZARDIs) – see figure below.
