2019/2020 This is the first annual lead agency report prepared after enactment of the National Environment act 2019. The report is divided into seven sections that mirror the mandate of lead agencies but also highlight the plans and targets for the year, actual performance, gaps and challenges encountered and plans for the ensuing year. Submission of the plan and targets is also expected to be used as a mechanism of assessing compliance of lead agencies as required under section 33(9) of the NEA. This is hoped to promote not only reporting but overall accountability and performance of environment management agencies. This is hoped to enhance the integrity and functionality of the natural resources and the ecosystem, ensuring a clean, healthy and productive environment that translates into sustainable development.
