The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has been in existence since 1995,and has continued to exist under the National Environment Act No.5 of 2019 Section 8, as the Principal Agency of Government that is mandated to regulate, monitor, supervise, and coordinate all activities relating to the environment (NEA Section 9 (1); and, ensures sustainable utilization of the country’s natural resources.NEMA is required to report annually on the status of implementation of the Key Result Areas (KRAs) that are stipulated in the NEMA s 5 (five) year Strategic Plan (2015/16 –2020/21) while taking into account the National Development Framework, Water and Environment Sector goals and Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) Performance indicators.
