Information out to the EIN memers

The 29th of January information on how to log in and use the clearing house was sent to the EIN members. The email was prepared after consulting Goretti Kitutu, Ingunn Limstrand and Reidar Hindrum. Both Ragnvald and Kato are now quite happy about the outcome.

This is the email:

Dear EIN members,
In December we (Ragnvald Larsen and Kato Phillip) worked on the Environmental Information Network Clearinghouse. We did updates to the system and worked on several technical issues. This email is to inform you about our progress and to make the system available for the EIN members for testing purposes.

Per now the following should be noted:

  • The website is currently members only. This means that no content is available without a user name and password.
  • The current content has been set up administratively and for internal testing/demonstration purposes only.
  • Further work is depending on feedback from the EIN members.
  • The dynamic maps has not been prepared as yet.
  • The AGEMP forms library has been updated and will provide the latest versions of the forms. Updated forms may be uploaded. Contact Kato for such updates.
  • As a consequence of an unstable network the server might not be available at all times. Try again later if this happens.

The primary goal for this work, at this stage, is to facilitate for the publication of the 2010 Sensitivity atlas (Sensitivity Atlas version 2.0). Other content can be facilitated.

In this context it is therefore important that you log in to the system and familiarize yourself with it. Leave comments on pages or just send an email to Ragnvald Larsen and Kato Phillip if you have questions on how to use the system.

The address to the website:

Go to this page and write your email(*) address to request your individual password:

The default password for all users is ABCABCABCABC. So the password for the user ragnvald would then be ABCABCABCABC. Change your password as soon as possible. You will find your settings page by hovering the mouse pointer above your user name visible in the upper right corner of the website.

You may change this password once you have logged in. You will also find your user name in the upper right side of the page once you have logged in. For later logins you may use your login name. You may then change your email address. The user name may not be changed.

Other relevant pages within the system:

 Regards,

The Clearing house Team

*) The one you where you received this email.

Tagging the pages

All website pages can be tagged with terms central to their content. On an aggregate level this facilitates what is called a tag-cloud. The below tag-cloud is a list of links where the size of the links vary with their use in the content pages:

Login name:   [userinfo field=”user_login”]

Password:       [userinfo field=”user_pass”]

System updates December 2012

From the 17th to the 20th of December Ragnvald Larsen from DN and Kato Phillip, NEMA, worked on the WordPress based Clearinghouse. The following was done:

  • General Wodpress administrative training for Kato Phillip
  • Prepared a new menu system
  • Installed new plugins to simplify access for external users
    • Context meny system
    • Support to list sub-pages.
  • Added new users
The clearinghouse contents for the sensitivity atlas as presented by EIN in 2010 is now available online. This was done by copying text from the original word document. Some imagery was also copied in. The quality of some of the imagery is however not good enough for presentation online. The originals should be sought out.
In addition OpenGeoSuite was updated to version 3.0.1
A considerable effort was made in trying to understand how we can mend ongoing network challenges at NEMA. A letter was prepared and sent to Christian Haugland with one of the OfD partners, the Norwegian Climate and Pollution Agency.

Access and permalinks

The access system was previously relying on the web server .htaccess-system. We have now installed a plugin to restrict all access to the website for non-registered users. athis means that all access relies on the user being logged un. Ano other access is currently possible. We will change this policy at a later stage.

To allow for flexible links – permalinks I made some changes to the server setup. The changes were made according to this guideline:
